Ideal Applications

On a multi-vendor cell the equipment is rarely the problem. The cost lands in the integration between parts that were never designed to talk to each other.

Omron covers the whole stack. E3AS photoelectric sensors and temperature controllers are the everyday volume. Safety light curtains, scanners, and relays handle guarding on new cells and retrofits. i4L SCARAs, LD and MD mobile robots, and the TM cobot cover the motion. FHV7 smart cameras do inspection and defect detection.

Because it comes from one controls platform, the PLC already speaks to the sensor, the safety device, and the robot. That removes the integration time that usually decides whether a retrofit is worth doing at all.

What areas do you support Omron in?

Can you pick the sensor if I know what I need to detect?

Yes, that's a routine ask: tell us the target, the distance, the surface, and the environment, and we'll spec the sensor, whether that's an E3AS photoelectric, a proximity switch, a vision sensor, or something you hadn't considered. Omron's catalog is enormous; you shouldn't have to read it.

Do you support Omron programming through Sysmac?

Yes. Our Technical Services team programs the Sysmac platform: NJ and NX machine controllers, HMI, motion, and safety, from new cell commissioning to modifying a running line. We program Omron's robots too, the TM cobots, i4L SCARAs, and LD fleet, so the controls and the robot come up together instead of pointing fingers at each other.

Do Omron PLCs work with Omron robots?

Yes, natively, and this is the payoff of staying on one platform: the controller, the cobot, the AMR fleet, the safety devices, and the vision all speak the same language on one platform. Integration time is where multi-vendor cells bleed money, and it's the line item an all-Omron architecture shrinks.

Should I choose a cobot or an industrial robot?

A cobot fits when a person shares the space and the speeds are modest; Omron's TM S Series is IP65-rated, so it also covers washdown cells. Fixed high-speed work belongs to an i4L SCARA, and material transport belongs to an LD, MD, or HD mobile robot. We run an Omron TM cobot ourselves, so you can see one work before you decide.

Can you retrofit safety or controls on an existing machine?

Yes, and it's some of the most frequent work we do: light curtains, area scanners, and safety relays specified to the risk assessment, and PLC/HMI retrofits planned before the obsolete controller fails instead of after.

Do Omron AMRs need facility changes to navigate?

No tape, no wires, no rails. The LD, MD, and HD AMRs (60 to 1,500 kg) map the floor and navigate around people and pallets, and one FLOW Core fleet manager coordinates up to 100 of them.
